MacArthur Central Shopping Centre
This four-level shopping centre that had been built with the British traditional heritage style is also known as MacArthur Chambers. It is located on the northeastern part of Queens Street, Edward Street and Elizabeth Street. During the Second World War, this complex was used by General Douglas MacArthur as South West Pacific Area Headquarters for the Allied Forces from July 1942 to November 1944. A salient feature of this building complex is the three-figured idol, placed on the top of the portico gateway of Queen Street was sculptured by Fred Gowan with silicon marble, which signifies power, growth and productivity. This mall also provides an array of efficient retailers, who would take care of your day-to-day requirements which include the exchange of currency notes, ironing and dry cleaning services, repairing shoes, and key cutting. This ninth-storied shopping building is located between Queen Street Mall and Elizabeth Street in Brisbane, Queensland and is addressed as Myer, being the biggest tenant. This mall gives access to the general public and is open seven days a week. This centre allows bus parking as most of the bus routes come under this Myer Centre. It also provides car parking and happens to be the largest parking centre in Brisbane.
Brisbane Arcade
This heritage shopping arcade is at 160 Queen Street through Adelaide Street. This Arcade was opened in March 1924 and was designed by Richard Gailey Jr. It provides connectivity in terms of trade and makes way for the pedestrians, who pass in between Queen and Adelaide Streets. The arcade comprises twenty shops on the ground floor and another twenty on the first floor with frontages in both these streets. There are office rooms on the first level. Several shopkeepers do marketing with the list of expensive items such as silken wear, women's fashion and floral art in the arcade stores, although they did not make any opening ceremonies.
Wintergarden
It was opened in 1982 by the Premier of Queensland and sustains more than 60 special stores on the three levels of the complex. It was initially developed by Kern Corporation Limited and was constructed by the Kern Corporation. It was developed with the concept of creating a retailer for the Brisbane Commonwealth Games, which was held in 1982. The development was initiated in 1980 and covered two steps. The first stage covered three levels of retailing and a two-storied car parking facility on the top. The national retailers who were hired were not familiar to the shop owners and the food centres served delicious cuisines. Then in 1987, when the second stage started to begin, which was quite close to the first one, and comprised several shops of restaurants. The first one for the common people and the Hilton Hotel, which is a five-starred restaurant to accommodate the 1988 Brisbane World Expo.
