Brisbane, which is the third largest country in the world is notable for many famous personalities, who have specialized in many fields like stage performers, researchers, medicines, politicians, defenders, sculptures, dancers, musicians, sports, writers and reporters. Therefore, you are going to be introduced to some of these important people, who were born in Brisbane, Queensland and started their careers in that land itself.


  1. Clark Beaumont (Sarah Clark and Nicole Beaumont)

Sarah Clark and Nicole Beaumont- This duo is famously known as Clark Beaumont. They currently live and work in Brisbane and have formed a musical/artistic duo "Clark Beaumont" in 2010. The pair worked together in video shows and presented live telecasting in many of the festivals, exhibitions, and national and international events. Their work exposes identities, feminine subject matters, and personal relationships among each other. Their collaboration explores socialism and physical dynamism to create marvellous works of art.


  1. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith

He is a pioneer who made his first flight with his crew across the Pacific in an aircraft "Southern Cross" from San Francisco, California, United States to Brisbane in 1928. This was the first flight across the Pacific Ocean. This aircraft has been carefully preserved at Kingsford Smith Memorial in a specially made sealed glass that would stand against all climatic conditions near the International terminal at Brisbane Airport.

  1. Bill Hayden

Hayden, who was Brisbane-born, attended the Brisbane State High School, later joined Queensland Police as an officer and served for eight years. While studying economics part-time at Queensland University, Hayden was elected to the House of Representatives, during the 1961 federal election at the age of 28. He is the first elected Labor MP and is still alive. He was made minister for social security. In early,1977, Hayden fought against Whitlam for leadership but got defeated by just two votes. But by the year's end, he defeated Lionel Bowen to succeed his nearest rival, who was the opposition leader at that time. He worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 1983 to 1988. He then left the parliament to acquire the position of Governor-General. He held that authority for a period of seven years.


  1. John Kerr (pathologist)

John Foxton Ross Kerr, who was born on 24th January 1934 in Sydney is an Australian pathologist, who first described ultrastructural changes in apoptosis, and proved that they differ very much from the changes in necrosis, which is another way of programming cellular death. He studied at Queensland University and earned a bachelor's degree in science in 1955. Later he acquired the same degrees in medicine and surgery in 1957. He served the Royal Brisbane Hospital as a medical assistant, and in 1964, he won a PhD at the London University. From 1965 onwards he taught pathology at Queensland University and became a professor in 1974. He with the help of two other doctors described normal cell death, which he termed apoptosis.


  1. Peter Doherty (immunologist)

This Australian immunologist who was born on 15 October 1940 is also a Nobel laureate. In 1995, he won the Albert Lasker Award for his research work in the field of medicine. After he received his bachelor's degree in veterinary science in 1962 from Queensland University, he was made the veterinary officer for the rural developments in agriculture and stocks. He did research in a laboratory for animals and cattle. He received his PhD in pathology in 1970 from Edinburgh University in Scotland and returned back to his motherland to continue his study of research.


  1. Daphne Mayo

This popular 20th-century artist, who was famous for her sculptural works, was born on 1st October 1895 and passed away on 31st July 1982. She had done her schooling at St. Margaret's Anglican Girls School. She received her Diploma in arts and crafts from Brisbane Central Technical College in 1913. During her college, she was very much influenced by modelling. She brushed up her skills by gaining an opportunity to travel to London in 1919 through an art scholarship. She held the position of an assistant, before entering the Royal Academy of Sculpture.


  1. Courtney Act

Born on 18 February 1982, is an Aussie drag queen, singer, and television star. She first made her way into the industry as an Australian Idol in 2003. After her first consignment, she joined Australian Sony Music, and she released her first album 'Rub Me Wrong", which was a towering success. She was later awarded the golden certificate, which was ten years later. While auditioning for the Australian Idol, she became the first contestant, for an open presentation on a television talent contest. Courtney became the runner-up in season six of RuPaul's Drag Race. In June 2019, she came third in the list of powerful drag queens in the United States of America. This award was given by a group of judges from the New York Magazine.


  1. Scott Dixon

Scott Ronald Dixon is a professional racing driver, who has won the IndyCar championship six times. He also won the 92nd Indianapolis 500 in 2008 from the pole. After winning 52 races, he became the most successful driver in American Championship Cars history. He is the only driver to win the IndyCar championship during his years in the series.

This Australian actor is best known for his performances in the following:

He first worked for the Hollywood film company in Pirates of the Caribbean.  He first played in the Australian film Swinging Safari in 2018, as a Rooster. He became famous as Noah Flynn in the Netflix comedian romance in the picture The Kissing Booth, which was released in May 2018. Then in 2019, he played his role in the horror movie The Mortuary Collection.

She was an Australian novelist and short story composer. She was a profound writer, who wrote for 40 years since 1958. On her deathbed, she received the Miles Franklin Award, which is one of the most popular awards in Australia. Apart from being a story writer, she was also a very good teacher at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels.
