The total journey that Kingsford Smith and his team took to cross the Pacific Ocean was 11,585 kilometres. This long journey took approximately 83 hours and 38 minutes to complete, which led to the creation of a record. When the crew landed in Brisbane, people became crazy out of joy and carried the crew from the aircraft to their cars. 


It is known to be one of the most memorable record-breaking journeys, which captured the attention of more than 30,000 people as everyone gathered at Brisbane Town Hall to witness it. It is known that there were more audiences for this record-breaking journey as the aircraft carried out a publicity tour later on.

Sir Charles Kingsford Smith crossed the Pacific Ocean for a reason. This happened after the First World War when many record-breaking flights were taking place across the world. 


This is when Kingsford Smith decided to be the first person to cross the Pacific Ocean and create a record. Many people thought it was impossible to do so as an aeroplane could not cover the distance that far enough. However, Smith proved everyone else wrong.
